Oregon Wildlife

The “Oregon Wildlife” dataset is a meticulously curated collection of 14,013 images that vividly represent the rich biodiversity of Oregon. Assembled from a deep personal passion for wildlife, this dataset encompasses images across 20 diverse categories, including iconic species such as bald eagles, black bears, and cougars. Each category is conveniently organized into separate folders, for instance, the ‘bald_eagle’ folder contains 748 images.

Initially, I utilized this dataset for a presentation in Portland, aimed at showcasing the region’s wildlife. Subsequently, recognizing its potential value, I made it available on Kaggle. I hope that the dataset will inspire and aid the community in exploring and advancing wildlife image classification techniques.

Moreover, the dataset includes a sample processed with the GapCV library, featuring five classes and 3,531 images. This sample serves as a practical example for researchers and developers, illustrating how to effectively use the dataset with advanced image processing tools.
