Description:

This dataset comprises pre-cropped images and individual identifications of Beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) collected from Cook Inlet, Alaska, between 2016-2019. It includes 5,902 photos and metadata from 1,617 unique encounters captured via boat-based and aerial drone cameras. The dataset features 788 individually identified whales, annotated with full-image bounding boxes and labeled viewpoints (top, left, right).

Data Format The training data is in Microsoft COCO .json format, with all images resized to a maximum dimension of 1,200 pixels. Metadata includes bounding boxes, viewpoint information, species ID, source image ID, and individual string ID names.
