Guava Fruit Disease Dataset

Description:

Guava (Psidium guajava) is an essential crop in South Asia, particularly in Bangladesh. Known for its high vitamin C and fiber content, guava supports regional economies and nutritional health. However, diseases affecting guava can significantly reduce yields, posing a threat to both agricultural productivity and economic stability. This dataset is developed to facilitate machine learning models aimed at the early detection of diseases in guava fruit, helping protect harvests and mitigate potential losses.

This dataset contains 473 carefully annotated images of guava fruits, divided into three distinct categories:

  • Anthracnose
  • Fruit Flies
  • Healthy Fruits

Through preprocessing techniques like unsharp masking and CLAHE (Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization), the dataset is augmented to a total of 3,784 images, ensuring comprehensive training data for machine learning applications. The images were collected from guava orchards in Rajshahi and Pabna, Bangladesh, during the peak fruit-ripening season in July, a period when the risk of disease is highest. A plant pathologist verified the accuracy of the image classifications.
